Fuelvo privacy policy
Last updated 11 October 2026
This policy covers two things: the Fuelvo app and this website. They are explained separately because they do not handle the same data.
This website
The site shows fuel prices and links to the app. It has no accounts and no forms, andit uses no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, which is why you see no cookie banner.
| Data | What for | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Visit statistics: the page you open, the kind of page, and whether you press a store button | To learn which pages are useful. They are collected with PostHog in its cookieless mode: no identifier is stored on your device, and one day's visits are grouped by an anonymous value PostHog computes on its server and changes every day. It cannot recognise you from one day to the next or on another site. The approximate location your IP address could give is not used. | Legitimate interest in improving the site |
| Technical logs: your IP address and the page requested | Like any server, the one hosting the site sees them and keeps them for a few days for security. | Legitimate interest (security) |
Links to the App Store and Google Play carry the name of the page you leave from, to learn which pages lead to installs. They carry nothing about you.
Who else processes it: PostHog (PostHog Inc., EU cloud), visit statistics;Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.), hosting. Visit statistics are kept for 14 months at most.
With a content blocker, or your browser's setting against being measured, statistics are not sent and the site works the same. For any question, or to exercise your rights, write togermanbustamantedev+fuelvo@gmail.com.
The Fuelvo app
Fuelvo is an app to compare fuel prices at nearby stations. It has no accounts and no ads, and it never sells or shares your data for advertising. This policy explains what the app handles, why, and the choices you have.
Who is responsible
Germán de Bustamante Conde (“we”), the developer of Fuelvo, is the data controller. Contact: germanbustamantedev+fuelvo@gmail.com.
What the app handles
| Data | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Your location, only if you allow it, while the app is open | To find the stations around you. The coordinates of the search are sent to our server and used to answer it; they are not stored with anything that identifies you, and never go to analytics. | Providing the service you ask for |
| What you search for and the map area you look at: the province you pick, the area of the map and, from its third character, the text you type in the search box | To return stations and prices. The search text is not written to our logs or our database; the answer can stay in our server's memory for up to an hour, so the same search is not run twice, with nothing that says who asked. Like any server, ours sees your IP address, kept in its technical logs for a few days for security. | Providing the service; legitimate interest (security) |
| Usage statistics, only if you agree: screens opened and actions taken (for example the fuel chosen or a station opened), with a random installation id, the platform and your default fuel | To understand what to improve. They never include your location, name or contact details, and no advertising identifier is collected. | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Price alerts, only if you create one: the station, fuel and price you choose, plus your phone's notification address (its push token), the app's language and time zone, the platform and the app version | To check each new price against your alerts and notify you, in your language and never at night. Kept on our server under a random identifier of its own, never with your location or the usage-statistics id. | Providing the service you ask for |
| General notifications, only if you turn them on | To send Fuelvo's own notices, such as what's new, price summaries or reminders before long weekends, at most once a week. Your phone joins a Firebase Cloud Messaging list for its language; our server doesn't learn who joined. | Your consent, which you can withdraw in Profile → Notifications |
| Crash reports: what went wrong, device model and system version | To find and fix errors. | Legitimate interest in keeping the app working |
Your preferences, favourite stations and recently loaded prices are stored only on your device, along with a copy of your price alerts. Uninstalling the app deletes them. If your phone's own backup is on (Google's or iCloud), it may include them, as it does other apps' data; on Android the backup never includes the identifier our server gave your phone for price alerts, so a restored phone starts without alerts.
Who else processes it
- Google Firebase (Google Ireland Ltd.): usage statistics, only with your consent, crash reports (Crashlytics), and delivering notifications (Cloud Messaging), which receives your phone's push token and the notification. On iPhone it delivers them through Apple's push service (Apple Inc.).
- PostHog (PostHog Inc., EU cloud): usage statistics, only with your consent. It also tells the app whether it is under maintenance, which uses a random identifier and no personal data.
- Render: hosting of our server and its database, in the EU.
- Google Maps (Android) and Apple Maps (iOS) draw the map; they receive the area shown, as any map does.
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. They do so under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long it is kept
Usage statistics: at most 14 months. Crash reports: 90 days. Server logs: a few days. Price alerts and your phone's notification address: until you remove them, until 270 days after the app last contacted our server, or until Google tells us the app was uninstalled, whichever comes first. Data on your device: until you delete the app or its data.
Your choices and rights
- You decide on usage statistics when you first open the app, and can change it at any time in Profile → Privacy → Share usage statistics. Turning it off stops the sending at once and erases the random installation id from your phone: if you turn it on again later, it starts with a new one, not linked to the earlier statistics.
- Location is optional: the app works by choosing a province instead.
- Notifications are optional. A price alert is removed from its station's bell, or by removing the station from your favourites. Profile → Notifications → Turn off all price alerts deletes every alert and your phone's notification address from our server. General notifications are off until you turn them on there, and you can turn them off the same way.
- You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, restrict or object to its use, or ask for a copy, by writing to germanbustamantedev+fuelvo@gmail.com. As we don't know who you are, include the installation id if you have it, or tell us what you need and we will help.
- You can complain to the Spanish data protection authority,Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, or the one where you live.
Children
Fuelvo is not directed at children under 14 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with its date. Important changes will also be shown in the app.
